According to the letter of Vladimir Platonov, the chairman of the Moscow City Council and the head of the Commission On Honorary Citizenship, the official request for declaring Serbian nationalist leader Vojislav Seselj an honorary citizen of Moscow is taken into consideration. The request was submitted by the Right-Wing Conservative Alliance and registered under number 07-04-3248/12 of 24 May, 2012. The Moscow City Council will make a decision on this issue within the next several months.
This initiative of the Right-Wing Conservative Alliance has already got a media coverage in Serbia, with "Kurir" paper first announcing the fact of request submission.
The chief of the Right-Wing Conservative Alliance’s Balkan Bureau Ilya Goryachev commented this situation to Serbian media, saying the following: “I remind you that on the 4th of May, with a solemn ceremony, Angelina Jolie was awarded a title of Sarajevo canton’s honorary citizen. The Bosnian capital’s City Council named Jolie an honorary citizen for “raising awareness of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Angelina Jolie was awarded a title of honorary citizen for her film “In the Land of Blood and Honey”, which distorts the historical truth and creates negative image of Serbian people, while Bosnian Muslims are presented as innocent martyrs".
Mr. Goryachev reminded that Hollywood was trying to do something similar with the recent Russian history: "In 2010 the movie on South Ossetian war was released titled “5 days in August”. The august events were interpreted solely from Georgia’s point of view and Russian military forces were depicted as a sort of barbarous gang.
However, it’s not clear why being such a gang, our army managed in the course of several days totally overwhelm and capture Georgian army, as well as occupy the most of Georgia. Movie production was fully sponsored by Georgia, which budgeted for it 12 million dollars. Nevertheless, the film earned only 14 000 dollars. Jolie’s directoral debut flopped as well. The question is who was a sponsor of this debut?
Left liberals, who always stand up for islamists, are seeking to cultivate the feelings of guilt among the Serbs, to impose all over the world the impression that the Serbs are a sort of genocide nation. The members of the Bosnian Muslim community are trying to create for themselves an advantageous media image of victim. However we perfectly remember war crimes committed particularly by the 28 division of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina under command of Naser Oric or El Mujahideen brigade fully made up of islamists from the Middle East.
Therefore, it will be logical if Moscow, being in fact the last stronghold of traditionalism in Europe, names Vojislav Seselj an honorary citizen of the city. Accusing him - a politician opposing to Milosevic regime - of war crimes on the territory of the neighbouring country is an attempt to impose on Serbia the feeling of guilt and dictate the will of the left liberal EU establishment. For them the Balkans have always been a firing ground for development of technologies. Today Seselj is prosecuted, tomorrow - another Tribunal on "war crimes" in the Caucasus will be set up. For Russian politicians. We must begin to hold the line on distant approaches. By defending Seselj, Russia defends its ethnic and cultural space from alien interference", - said Ilya Goryachev.
